Self improvement books are for losers—me before starting my own business.
Yup—I thought I was above all of it. I was stuck up, overconfident, and stuck in a fixed mindset.
I had to learn the hard way that being “book smart” didn’t make me an entrepreneur. I realized that it wasn’t at all about how much you knew, but how well you could handle rejection, self-doubt, and judgement.
Those three will kill a dream before it reaches your lips to say it out loud. So, if you have a big dream, before you even write your business plan and set a goal, pick up a book and get your mind right first.
Here are my top favorite personal development books by symptom:
Self-Doubt
You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
Find Your Why by Simon Sinek
Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein
Fear of Judgement
Get Over Your Damn Self by Romi Neustaadt
Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis
Fear is Not the Boss of You by Jennifer Allwood
Lack of Discipline and Routines
The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod
Atomic Habits by James Clear
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
Leadership
Dare to Lead by Brené Brown
Culture Eats Strategy for Lunch by Curt Coffman
